As you might have guessed, we’ve taken some time to explore where we want to take Itizen. What we found is that many people are wanting, and desperately needing, a better way to sell, swap and share things that they no longer need. We also found that people want this experience to be tailored to the types of things in which they are interested. As a result of this exploration, we would like to introduce…
ITIZEN KID — a community marketplace for parents to sell, swap and share quality kids’ things
Some people have asked, “Can’t I already do that on Craigslist or Ebay?” The following will give you a sense of what Itizen is all about and how it differs:
- it’s about strengthening our local communities and using things to help us connect with others offline
- it’s about helping other families who are going through similar events in their lives
- it’s about extending the life of things so we can reduce the size of the landfills we leave for our kids
- it’s about showing our kids ways to be a responsible consumer and good citizen
We will be focusing initially on the Minneapolis market, and will scale it to other cities as we get 50 or more users signed up in a certain area. More to come on how to bring Itizen to your city. In the meantime, you can request an invite here.
