Hi Cadyn! Please tell us about yourself and your family.
Hello! We are a very adventurous and lively family. My husband Alan and I have a 6-year-old, Finley Sophia and a 3-year-old, Alice Amelia. He is an artist and I work in advertising, so design is a huge part of our life. We love to travel and we jump at every opportunity to explore, but for the past 15 years or so Austin has been our home. My family is all about constantly learning by our own experiences or ones we read about. Creativity and love of learning is crucial.
How did you hear about Kidizen and how did you get hooked?
I was looking to share my gently used clothes with others and searched the web for the best apps for selling kids clothing. Kidizen immediately stood out. I loved the community aspect and knew it was the right place.
If your kids were left to their own devices to get dressed, what would they put on?
When I let the girls dress themselves they both grab dresses. Finley wouldn't even wear pants until she was 3. Alice loves to spin in fancy dresses, but is quick to add a cape or mask. Our girls are incredibly close and yet their personalities are light years apart.
Do you have any favorite stories about your kids?
My favorite memory so far was on our recent trip to visit family in Central America, Alice was terrified of the ocean waves (we don't get a whole lot of ocean time in Austin) and Finley gently coaxed her, day by day, until they finally sat in the tide together.
Any brands or styles you tend to gravitate to more than others?
When it comes to brands of clothes I tend to gravitate toward comfortable and quality brands like Oilily or Tea Collection for every day wear. My girls love to dress up though so Persnickety and Matilda Jane also have their place.
The simplicity and character of the background in your photos is lovely. What is it?
The back drop to my photos is this amazing shabby chic table that we actually found on the side of the road. It's become one of my favorite crafting tables and we use it for special occasions like for the kids table at Thanksgiving.
What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?
The best advice anyone ever gave me was when I became a mother and someone had given me unsolicited advice. A friend said the best response to something you don't agree with is "I'll give that all the consideration it deserves."
